This course has been cancelled, however, we will still hold it on May 2 in Tully, NY as originally scheduled.
This course class is also being offered on May 22 in Selkirk, NY and June 26 in East Elmhurst, NY.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
New York State Department of Transportation representatives will present DOT 101 training including, but not limited to topics such as the future of CSA, DataQ requests, lessons learned from ELDs so far and how best to prepare for a DOT audit. Questions are encouraged for attendees to get the most from the training sessions.

The Drug and Alcohol Reasonable Suspicion Supervisor Training will educate attendees on driving impairment and what it means to highway safety in an effort to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on highways and in the workplace. It will help attendees learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of impairment from alcohol, illicit drugs and prescription drug use, and serve as a guide for establishing programs and practices within an organization. 
Instructors: John and Beth McGuire, High Ride Consulting, Drug Recognition Experts certified by the International Association Chiefs of Police

This training meets the DOT 49 CFR 382.603 regulation which requires supervisors of commercial motor vehicle drivers who operate vehicles that require a commercial driver license to take 60 minutes of training on the symptoms of alcohol abuse and another 60 minutes of training on the symptoms of controlled substance use (120 minutes in total). A question and answer period will follow each session and a certificate of participation will be provided via email.

SPEAKERS
Beth McGuire is a Sergeant with the Niskayuna Police Department.  She is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.  Sergeant McGuire has worked for the Niskayuna Police Department since July of 2007.  Sergeant McGuire is a New York State Drug Recognition Expert and a New York State Drug Evaluation and Classification Instructor as certified through the International Association of Chief’s of Police.  She is a member of the Technical Advisory Panel for the NYS DRE program.  She also is a General Topics and Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor as certified through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
 
John McGuire is an Investigator with the University Police at SUNY Albany.  He is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit.  Investigator McGuire has worked for the University Police at SUNY Albany since May of 2000.  Investigator McGuire was a K-9 Officer for 15 years and handled two of the departments narcotics K-9’s.  Investigator McGuire is a New York State Drug Recognition Expert and a New York State Drug Evaluation and Classification Instructor as certified through the International Chief’s of Police.  He is also a General Topics, Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor and Breath Analysis Instructor as certified through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
